November, 1999

What more could you want? Well, this band never played a song the same way twice. In fact, a lot of songs never got played a second time. So here, for the true obscurantist, Gray Area presents a sampling of Bill Russell's spontaneous genius. "Many moons ago, buffalo roamed these plains...."

1987: In the wake of Barnacle Choir, Doc and Corn Man found themselves playing with the guy who isolated the serotonin receptor and a backwoods madman with family ties to the Devil. The result was Jimmy Jesus of the Cross - inspired, bluesy, absurdist garage rock.
